The Jiafeng Chen Music Studio has successfully held six international summer music courses since 2015, with open masterclasses given by Mark Messenger (Head of Strings, Royal College of Music), Jan Repko (Violin Professor, Royal College of Music), Cho-Liang Lin (Concert Violinist, Violin Professor, The Juilliard School & Shepherd School of Music), Dina Parakhina (Piano Professor, Royal College of Music), Kun Hu (Violin Professor, Royal Academy of Music), and the international soloist Julian Lloyd Webber OBE.

Summer Course students have received one-to-one lessons given by Jiafeng Chen (Violin Professor, Royal College of Music, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire), Richard Howarth (Former Concertmaster, Manchester Camerata), Prize-winning Concert Violinist Francisco Fullana, Elly Suh, Yoon Kwon, Sarah Vonsattel (First Violins, The Metropolitan Opera), Quan Ge (First Violin, New York Philharmonic), Philip Brett (Principal First Violin, CBSO) and Anna Blackmur (Principal Second Violin, Royal Opera House). Piano Professors include Eri Kang (Chamber Music Coach, The Juilliard School),  Jennifer Hughes (Staff Pianist, Royal College of Music), Zhen Chen (Staff Pianist, Manhattan School of Music), Concert Pianists Miki Aoki, Dina Duisen, Alexis White (Piano Tutor, Menuhin School of Music; Head of Keyboard, St. Paul's Girls School), Natasha Stollmack and Shira Shaked.

In addition to instrumental lessons, students were taught Baroque Dances by Simone Mead (Certified Ballet Teacher, Royal Ballet School) and Yoga lessons by Naomi Watts (Certified Yoga teacher). Moreover, musicians' health and well-being have become one of the most discussed topics in our courses.

 

Our special thanks to the Florian Leonhard Fine Violins for their support. In the past, we held gala concerts at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the National Opera Center of America, the Royal College of Music (London), St. John's Smith Square in London and Oxford University.
